Laboratory of Wood Engineering

Wood is produced from forests and widely used as a law material of wood construction, furniture, tools, paper and so on.  The by-products occurring during wood processing are also important resources as renewable energy called biomass energy and a lot of woody biomass is available for substituting for fossil energy resources.  Wood is an environmentally conscious resource because the use of wood will never affect on the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of the planet as long as the forests are maintained properly.

Our research subjects are as follows.

  1. The physical properties essential to the practical use of wood
  2. The effect of woody interior on the livability
  3. Use of woody biomass as an energy resource
  4. Development of new materials from woody resources
